State legislatures significantly impact our
day-to-day, yet are rather inaccessible to
students. As the states pass policies that
will impact students, it is important that
their voice is represented in policy
conversations. My project sought to
ensure that student-athletes were not
only able to have conversations with
lawmakers but also felt prepared for
those conversations. I achieved this by
leading a curriculum to guide policy
conversations and extending an invitation
to athletes to visit the Tennessee state
legislature in Nashville.
